About Fuller Living

I didn’t create this methodology. I survived my way into it.

The story behind Fuller Living and The Value-Pain Paradox™.

Where This Work Began

Where this work began.

I was four years old when my understanding of safety in the world changed forever. The person who hurt me was someone who should have protected me. And for the next several decades, I did what a lot of survivors do — I kept going. I kept achieving. I kept caring deeply, showing up fully, and quietly carrying wounds that had no name yet.

What I didn’t know then was that the very things I valued most — family, faith, my body, my work, my community — would become the sites of my deepest pain. Not because I was broken, but because I cared. Deeply. Irrevocably. And without a framework that honored that complexity, I kept reaching for healing that didn’t quite fit.

Healing models that said: choose to forgive. Choose joy. Choose to move on.

But what do you do when the things that wounded you are also the things you love?

That question became the seed of The Value-Pain Paradox™.

A Life That Became a Methodology

A life that became a methodology.

Over the years, I lived at the intersection of identities and experiences that don’t often share space: trauma survivor and corporate professional, person of faith and person of doubt, chronic illness patient and community advocate, mental health professional and mental health client.

I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology, my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, and a Doctorate in Christian Counseling. I worked in SaaS implementation and project management for 25 years, navigating workplace discrimination while managing a lupus diagnosis. I became an ordained minister and a Certified Peer Specialist. I serve on the board of the Depression Bipolar Support Alliance Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter, where I lead support groups. I trained as a recovery storyteller through the GMHCN RESPECT Institute.

And through all of it, I kept returning to the same truth: the things that hurt us most, hurt us most precisely because we value them. Which means healing isn’t about learning to care less. It’s about learning to hold more — more complexity, more contradiction, more grace.

That’s Fuller Living. That’s the both/and life.

Healing isn’t about learning to care less. It’s about learning to hold more — more complexity, more contradiction, more grace.
